Glover, 61, was found guilty for his role in a labour rally at the Sheraton on the Falls hotel in September 2006. He was supporting union leaders who were calling for improved salaries and working conditions for employees at the Sheraton and other hotels across North America.

Canadian Niagara Hotels sought $22,000 to cover the private prosecution of Glover and two other defendants. Labour activists Alex Dagg and Wayne Samuelson have also been fined $100 each for trespassing.

The justice of the peace Friday said the prosecution was unnecessary to protect the interests of the hotel's owner, and that the company should have put more effort toward good faith negotiations with the union.

After working as an actor for more than three decades, Glover has recently gained a reputation as a celebrity activist. In October, the Lethal Weapon star met with Venezuela's socialist leader, Hugo Chavez.
