The name of the Canadian soldier found dead in Kabul with a gunshot wound was released Thursday by military officials.

Maj. Raymond Ruckpaul, 42, was found in his room at the headquarters of the International Security Assistance Force in the Afghan capital. Other details, including his hometown and where he was stationed, haven't been released.

ISAF and Canadian military officials are still investigating.

Military spokesmen said earlier they had not ruled out suicide, homicide or accident as the cause of death.
