Ottawa police are investigating after a young woman died when she was dragged 1½ kilometres under a cab.
Investigators said Monday they interviewed a cab driver but had not laid any charges after the 25-year-old died early Sunday morning.
Sarah McCarthy, of Richmond, Ont., had just left a friend's birthday celebration at a pub in Kanata when the minivan cab hit her in a parking lot.
Her boyfriend and an uncle chased the cab but weren't able to catch the driver's attention and it drove away down a road, then onto a highway.
Sarah McCarthy was dragged under this taxi.
Police said the van didn't stop until it passed under a highway pedestrian bridge.
It's the second fatal incident in two months involving a cab in the Ottawa area.
Last week, a taxi driver was charged with dangerous operation of a motor vehicle causing death in connection with a crash on Sept. 17 that killed a woman from Pembroke.
