One of the men acquitted in the Air India case is planning to return to his job as a forklift operator at a Kamloops sawmill.

Ajaib Singh Bagri has been on a leave of absence from Tolko Industries since his arrest on Oct. 27, 2000, and was guaranteed a job upon his release from jail.

Two weeks ago, the 55-year-old Bagri and co-accused Ripudaman Singh Malik were cleared of murder and conspiracy charges, following a 19-month trial in B.C. Supreme Court.

Warren Oja, local vice-president of the United Steelworkers of America, says Bagri has given notice that he intends to return to his job in a week or two.

Bagri began working at the plywood plant in 1972. He was able to retain his seniority during his time off under an agreement negotiated between his union and the company.

Oja said there hasn't been any negative comments from fellow employees.
