The chair of Magna International Inc. has told an Austrian newspaper that his daughter, Belinda Stronach, will return to the business world within five to 10 years because she is "not a career politician."

Austrian-born entrepreneur Frank Stronach, 71, was speaking in an interview with Wirtschafts Blatt.

"My daughter will serve her country and then come back to the company since she is not a career politician," he predicted.

Belinda Stronach could not be reached for comment.

In January, the 37-year-old Stronach quit as Magna's president and chief executive officer to run for the leadership of the new Conservative Party of Canada.

She lost to Stephen Harper in the March 20 vote but is running for the party in a riding north of Toronto.
