FBI agent Ron Parrish testified at the Air India trial on Wednesday that a secret informer told him the whole story of the conspiracy, back in 1985.

Parrish said that Ajaib Singh Bagri has confessed, privately, even adding that a bomb that killed two baggage handlers in Tokyo was also meant to blow up in the air.

Prakash Sahu, whose father was among the 329 people who died on Air India flight 182, said the testimony was "chilling."

"It hurts, let's put it that way. It really hurts to hear that," he said.

The focus now is on Bagri's alleged confession. When the informer testified last week, the defence noted that he was paid to do so by the RCMP.

But the FBI agent says the informer told him the same story about Bagri years ago, and that he did so for free.

"Well what I found really significant and pretty important is that this new witness, who has been testifying this past week, has acknowledged that Bagri confided in him. And this was long before there was any exchange of money between him and the FBI and the RCMP subsequently," said Lata Pada, who lost her husband and two daughters on the flight.

Bagri and Ripudaman Singh Malik are on trial, charged with killing 331 people in two separate bombings on the same day in June, 1985. One bomb killed 329 people onboard Air India flight 182, most of them Canadians. The other bomb killed two baggage handlers at Tokyo's Narita Airport.

The trial continues.
