Toronto Police say there is no evidence to suggest the abduction of nine-year-old Cecilia Zhang is a random attack by a predator.

Investigators also believe that Cecilia is still in the country.

Det. Sgt. Dave Perry says police will not discuss evidence so as to protect the safety of the little girl, taken from her home late Sunday or early Monday.

"It is important to know we have no reason to believe this is a random attack by a predator. We have no evidence to suggest this," said Perry.

Responding to media reports that the case is a kidnapping for ransom, Perry said a ransom situation is "one of the themes we are working on."

"Investigators must keep an open mind, and not get hung up on any tunnel vision or any one specific area of this kind of an investigation," he said.

Muscat said he didn't know whether the family or the police have heard from anyone claiming to know where Cecilia is. He has repeatedly refused to characterize the girl's disappearance as anything other than "an abduction."
