The young man convicted of second-degree murder in the killing of Reena Virk near Victoria has lost his appeal.

The British Columbia Court of Appeal says the evidence shows Warren Glowatski actively took part in the girl's death in 1997.

Glowatski's lawyer said the trial judge should not have permitted evidence from two Crown witnesses. He also argued that even though the evidence from Glowatski's girlfriend and a roommate was allowed, it was not enough for a conviction.

The Appeal Court rejected the argument.

Glowatski was given a seven year sentence for his part in Virk's beating and drowning.

His co-accused, Kelly Ellard, is out on bail while she appeals her conviction.
