The Transportation Safety Board of Canada is expected to release a series of recommendations Monday tied to the crash of Swissair Flight 111.

The report will not include conclusions about the cause of the crash, which killed 229 people off the coast of Nova Scotia in 1998.

Instead, it will offer advice on making air travel safer.

The five recommendations are expected to deal with everything from procedures used by cockpit crews to equipment on board MD-11 jets.

Some people have speculated that a problem with wiring may have started a fire on Flight 111.

But many questions remain unanswered, including whether electrical systems were faulty, and if the pilot could have done anything to prevent the tragedy.

The board has already issued preliminary findings, but it doesn't plan to release a final report on the Swissair crash for at least six more months.

Even then, it's not clear whether investigators will draw any definite conclusions about the cause.
