B.C. 'fudge-it' budget court case going ahead

The three, part of a group called Help B.C., are trying to unseat MLAs in three ridings. They allege that Sue Hammell, Graeme Bowbrick and Ed Conroy misled voters in order to get elected in 1996 by claiming balanced budgets in 1995-96 and 1996-97 — when the budgets were really in the red.
The case is believed to be the first of its kind in the country, and could change the way politicians campaign.
Former Premier Glen Clark has been subpoenaed, along with two former finance ministers and treasury board members.
Ian Aikenhead represents two of the New Democrats in the case. He says it doesn't make sense to hold his clients responsible for what others may have said. Aikenhead says he's still not sure what his clients are even accused of.
He believes this is an attempt to re-hash the 1996 election and he says the court room is the wrong place to do it.
