A woman has pleaded guilty to stabbing a five-month-old child. Her trial was to start Monday, but she changed her plea.

A woman has pleaded guilty to attempted murder, admitting she stabbed a toddler three years ago at a home in Warman, Sask., north of Saskatoon.

The woman can not be identified because of a court-ordered publication ban. Her trial was supposed to begin Monday but she changed her plea.

According to the Crown prosecutor on the case, the woman, who was 21 at the time, stabbed the child in the head while a custody order was being served. It happened around 6 p.m. on May 11, 2011. The boy suffered a brain injury and now has developmental problems.

He's in the custody of his father.

The woman will be sentenced in September.
