Labour Day is a holiday to celebrate workers and the union movement in Canada, but the reality is, a lot of people in Saskatoon still have things to get done.

That can be a challenge, as City Hall scales back some services for the holidays.

City Hall itself will be closed for the holiday Monday.  People who rely on public transit will have to pay close attention to the schedule. The bus will operate with reduced service following the Sunday/Holiday schedule. Access Transit will also operate on a Holiday schedule from 8:15 a.m. to 11:45 a.m.. CST.

The holiday, however, will not serve as an excuse to get out of chores around the house.

Garbage, recycling and leaves and grass collection will take place. The landfill will be open with regular summer hours, as are the compost depots.

There is a silver lining in all of this. Parking is free. Swimming is free at the Lathey and Riversdale pools. City golf courses are also open.
