An early morning fire on Saskatoon’s west side has destroyed a car and damaged a garage.

The call came in just after 2 a.m. CST. Fire crews rushed to a home at 222 Avenue K South after receiving reports that a car was on fire in the alleyway behind the home.

When firefighters arrived they found a car burning bumper to bumper. The fire had also spread to the garage next door. In a news release, the fire department said they were able to get the fire under control within eight minutes.

The car, however, was completely destroyed. Damage to the garage next door was mostly external. In total, the fire did about $15,000 in damage.

Today, investigators are on the scene trying to find out what caused the fire.
