Saskatoon city council will decide whether a portion of Victoria Park will be named Reconciliation Circle today.
The city's naming advisory committee is recommending council approve renaming the park in recognition of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada.
"Reconciliation Circle" was first recommended to the naming advisory committee back in May. More than 80 organizations and individuals signed a letter of support for the name change.
The portion of the park recommended to be renamed is set to include the Where Our Paths Cross commemorative art piece that's to be constructed spring 2018, and an area that's regularly used for community gatherings like the Rock Your Roots Walk for Reconciliation.
The committee also recommended the name be incorporated into a plaque on the art installation that is set to be built.
