U of S faculty votes in favour of proposed 3-year contract
Faculty at the University of Saskatchewan have voted in favour of a new three-year contract. With the faculty's approval, the new contract could resolve one of the most contentious issues on campus, the president's veto over the granting of tenure. The tentative deal would end that veto.
The deal must also be approved by the university's Board of Governors. That is set to happen at a meeting Oct. 9.
An executive summary, published to the faculty association's website, indicated that faculty can expect pay increases of 2.25 per cent for 2014-15, 2.25 per cent in 2015-16 and 2.75 in 2016-17.
The faculty association represents more than 1000 professors, librarians and research scientists.
