It was not an an angry or bitter departure, but a mutual parting of ways, the source said.

No dates will be cancelled on the Saskatoon-based band's current tour. Hanson will be replaced on the road by Rusty Matyas, of Winnipeg's Imaginary Cities, the source said.

Hanson recently opened the Capitol Music Club, a concert venue and bar in Saskatoon.

The Sheepdogs rose to international fame in 2011 after winning a contest to appear on the cover of Rolling Stone Magazine.
