The RCMP in Warman have arrested a 15-year old boy after a string of early-morning car thefts yesterday.
Police got a tip from one of their Warman office staff, who saw several men breaking into cars. Police said it happened between midnight and 3 a.m. CST. Eight vehicles showed signs of vandalism and four more vehicles were stolen.
Patrols in the area located what police call a suspicious vehicle, which sped away and crashed into a snowbank along Augusta Drive. A young man jumped out and tried to run, before he was arrested.
The teenager faces more than a dozen charges today in provincial court.
Another patrol spotted a second stolen car nearby around the same time, but lost sight of it. Officers found it abandoned a few minutes later.
Investigators said they are still looking for both of the men they believe were inside the car.
Today, Warman RCMP warned residents of the bedroom community north of Saskatoon not to leave keys or garage door openers inside vehicles. They said in almost every theft, the keys were left inside parked cars.
A white Ford Edge and a blue Oldsmobile Cutlass are still missing.
