Suspicious fire guts Saskatoon home

A fire gutted the main floor of a home on the 1800 block of 22nd Street W. Saturday morning. No one was home at the time of the fire.

Saskatoon emergency crews responded to a house on fire Saturday morning.

The home, located on the 1800 block of 22nd Street W., was completely engulfed in flames when fire crews arrived. Police said flames and heavy plumes of black smoke were pouring out of windows and doors from the front and back of the home.

Firefighters were able to have the fire extinguished by 9:15 a.m CST.

No one was at home during the fire. A firefighter had to be treated at the scene for a minor burn on his arm. There were no other injuries.

Investigators say they consider the fire suspicious, but it's not clear how the fire started.

The total cost of the damage has not been determined.
