Sentencing delayed for mother who put dead baby's body in garbage
The sentencing of a Saskatoon woman accused of placing her dead baby in a garbage container has been posponed to October.
The woman, who was 17-years-old at the time of the 2010 incident, plead guilty earlier this year to the charges of neglect to obtain assistance in child birth and concealing the body of a child.
At the end of October, 2010, police first received information that the teenager gave birth to a baby girl earlier that month and put the dead child in a garbage container outside her home. The container was then picked up by a city garbage truck and taken to the landfill.
Police and cadaver dogs searched an area the size of a football field for seven days. Officers didn't find any evidence.
Upon further investigation, police laid charges in March, 2013.
