A 38-year-old Saskatoon woman is charged with sexually exploiting a student.
In October 2013, a 30-year-old woman came forward saying her teacher sexually assaulted her when she was 16 years old.
Police said the incident happened in 2000 and have now charged Erin McGonigle with sexual exploitation.
In a news release, the Saskatoon Public School Board says McGonigle was fired, adding student safety is a top priority.
"Our school division acted immediately to suspend Ms. McGonigle pending the outcome of an investigation by our Human Resources department," the School Board said in the release. "Ms. McGonigle's employment with Saskatoon Public Schools ended on Nov. 12, 2013."
McGonigle is expected to appear in Provincial Court this afternoon.
