Saskatoon police officer Luke St. Onge not guilty of assault
Not guilty of assault causing bodily harm and assault with a weapon
A Saskatoon police constable is not guilty of assault causing bodily harm and assault with a weapon.
Constable Luke St. Onge admits he punched and then pepper-sprayed a 14-year-old boy within seconds of arriving at the scene of an arrest. The judge said in court this afternoon that the officer was justified when he hit and pepper sprayed the teenager he believed was a suspect.
Four other officers were restraining the boy at the time. St. Onge testified he thought the boy was armed and was resisting arrest.
The officers thought the boy was someone else, and it turned out he was not armed.
