A 23-year-old Saskatoon man is charged with mischief after police allege he faked his own kidnapping.

It happened Tuesday.

Around 9:30 p.m. CST, police were called to investigate the alleged kidnapping of a man near 8th Street East and Briargate Road. Officers used their tracker dogs, with help from the RCMP, and found the suspected victim near the 8th Street extension.

He was all right.

But when police started looking at the circumstances, they determined the kidnapping claim was unfounded. The man was charged with mischief.

He'll be in court on Monday.
