Saskatoon man arrested after cab driver's car, cash stolen
Police used K-9 unit to track down suspect in Avenue C area
A 30-year-old Saskatoon man is in custody and facing armed robbery charges after a cab driver's money and car were stolen Friday night in the 300 block of Avenue C S.
Police first received the call about a theft from a cab company at about 10:46 CST on Friday night. The company said one of their drivers had been robbed at gun point and that the driver's car and some money had been stolen.
Police were able to find the car and initiated a slow speed pursuit using their lights and sirens after the car failed to stop.
A minute later, the vehicle stopped and the suspect tried running away on foot, according to police. Police used a K-9 unit to track and detain the man and found a handgun and cash.
The 30-year-old suspect will be seen by a Justice of the Peace this morning.
