Saskatoon clearing packed snow to avoid ruts
On January 20 crews will start clearing compacted snow on streets across the city
Starting January 20, city crews will begin clearing compacted snow on streets across the city.
This city says it is part of their "proactive approach" to reduce the snow packing on roadways and the larger ruts that form because of it.
The snow clearing will be performed only on streets that are not already designated as priority streets.Multiple two-grader crews will clear the streets in two neighbourhoods each day.
In residential neighbourhoods, the snow clearing will take place during the weekdays, beginning with Montgomery and Willowgrove.
The city is advising motorists to keep an eye out for yellow ‘No Parking’ signs. These will be posted 36 hours in advance of the scheduled clearing to notify drivers to move their vehicles. Vehicles left on the street within the designated neighbourhoods will be moved by the city and fined $100.
