It's time to show off your finest imaginary guitar skills.

Competitors will attempt to outdo one another with rock and roll theatrics while shredding nothing but pure air.

"You pretend you have talent you've never actually had. It's just a lot of fun to rock out and let loose," said Mike Erman, the event's organizer.

While the competition is all about having fun, Erman said there is a serious prize on the line — an all-expenses paid trip to Toronto for the national Air Guitar Championships in July.

Best in the world

The competitor in Toronto who walks away with the title for best air guitarist in the nation will get a chance to represent Canada on the world stage later this year.

"The big prize is the chance to possibly move on to Finland, and be the best in the world at something, even if it's ridiculous," said Erman.

The Saskatchewan Air Guitar Championships scissor-kick off is at the Saskatoon Farmers Market on Saturday, May 14 at 7 p.m. CST.
