Some of the world's best Latin dancers are in Saskatoon this weekend for this year's Salsa and Bachata Congress.

The event showcases top dancers from all across the globe.

"We have from Dubai, we have from Columbia, we have dancers from Cuba this week also, from San Francisco," said organizer Albert Torres.

Torres puts together more than 40 of these events every year.

The top couple gets to advance to this year's World Latin Dance Cup in Miami this December.

Torres says there's something special about salsa music.

The beauty of it is that it's colour-blind," he said. "It doesn't matter what colour you are, if you understand the words or not, something happens when you hear the beats of this music."

The event will run until Sunday. It's being held at TCU Place and the Delta Bessborough Hotel.
