Regina Folk Festival recruiting Saskatoon audience

Organizers of the Regina Folk Festival spread marketing for the weekend music event to Saskatoon.

Artistic director says there's enough fun for the whole province.

A frigid day in downtown Saskatoon is hardly the place you'd expect to find talk of Regina's premiere summer music festival, but that was Sandra Butel's plan.

The Regina Folk Festival artistic director was in town to release the full concert schedule. The fesitval has seen a lot of growth in the last few years and now the team wants to grow the audience outside the Queen City.

"The province is big enough to be able to support both events," said Butel, adding that she works closely with the organizers of the Saskatchewan Jazz Festival. "We do not see eachother as competition. We see eachother as building the community in which we live."

Day and weekend passes are on sale now. The Regina Folk Festival runs Aug. 9 -11 in Victoria Park.
