Saskatoon police are searching for a man in his 40s in connection with a sexual assault. (CBC)

Police in Saskatoon say they received a report of a sexual assault on Thursday night while a student walked towards her residence near the University of Saskatchewan.

The call came in at about 6 p.m. CST.

Police say the woman was inappropriately touched while walking on the 100 block of Cumberland Avenue.

The man is described as being in his 40s with a dark complexion and is around five feet six inches tall.

Police say the man was wearing a white shirt with a checkered or striped pattern.
