An Ontario man living in Saskatoon is facing a second degree murder charge.
John Glen MacAulay, 46, of North Bay, Ont., is charged with killing Norman Playter in May 2014.
MacAulay was arrested in North Bay this weekend and flown to Saskatoon to face the charge. Investigators told CBC that both men were in the Outlaws Motorcycle Club, but that the alleged murder did not have anything to do with official club business.
Rather, they suggested a fatal altercation between acquaintances.
Witness evidence triggered the investigation in the summer of 2014, officers said.
RCMP said that Playter was reported missing to the Calgary Police but the investigation showed that the man had been visiting the Saskatoon area in the days leading up to his death.
A lengthy investigation by the RCMP Major Crime Unit also found that MacAulay was living in Saskatoon at that same time and the two men were known to each other.
MacAulay will be back in court next week.
