An off-duty police officer in Saskatoon is being treated for a cut with a broken bottle, suffered during the arrest of a suspected vandal.

It happened around 1 p.m. CST. Police got a report of a rock being thrown through a window in the 700 block of Spadina Crescent.

Police were then told the suspect was in a parkade located on the 100 block of 5th Ave. North.

The off-duty officer confronted the suspect and a struggle followed. A bystander came to the officer's assistance, and the suspect was arrested.

He is currently in detention awaiting a court appearance.

The vandalism complaint remains under investigation.
