A 28-year-old Montreal Lake man is facing a charge of second-degree murder in the death of a child on the northern First Nation.
Martin Abel Bird was in a Prince Albert courtroom this morning. He has been held in custody.
RCMP say that on April 7, the three-year-old boy was in cardiac arrest when he was taken to the health centre on the reserve from a residence. He was pronounced dead an hour later.
RCMP are not naming the victim or saying the relationship between the victim and the accused because it would identify the victim.
The charge against Bird came after the coroner ordered an autopsy to determine cause of death.
