Martensville high school students to get extended summer break
School division planning large renovation
Martensville High School students will spend nearly and extra half an hour in class each day this fall with the payoff of a longer summer next year, all to make way for construction.
The Prairie Spirit School Division decided to adopt an alternate calendar to accommodate renovations that will begin this spring.
“We believe the calendar will maintain our focus on student learning while also supporting students, staff members and families,” Larry Pavloff, Prairie Spirit Board of Education Board Chair, said in a press release.
Students will spend an additional 26 minutes in the classroom every day beginning this fall and will finish their school year on June 5, 2015.
The alternate calendar will begin at Martensville High School starting on September 2, 2014.
