Man from Saskatoon standoff refusing to leave jail cell

A 20-year-old man who kept police at bay for 13 hours is now refusing to leave his jail cell.

Prosecutor says 20-year-old has 'serious issues'

A 20-year-man who kept police at bay on Tuesday was supposed to be at provincial court today for his first appearance.

Instead, the case was set to next week -- because the man is now refusing to leave his jail cell.

"He's got some serious issues," said prosecutor Robin Ritter.

Police were called to 124 Avenue O South early Tuesday with reports that a man had barricaded himself in the house with a rifle and was threatening to hurt himself.

It took negotiators 13 hours to talk him into surrendering. Several shots were fired inside the house, but they weren't aimed at officers and no one was hurt.
