A 37-year-old man is facing several weapons charges after Saskatoon police responded to complaints of a suspicious man carrying a firearm. 

Officers were told a man in the 600 block of 22nd Street West was showing people what looked to be a handgun just before 8 p.m. CST Saturday. 

When they arrived on the scene, police apprehended the suspect and discovered the weapon was a BB gun. 

After searching the man police also found he was carrying a meat cleaver. 

He has been charged with carrying a concealed weapon, possession of a weapon dangerous to the public and uttering threats. 

Police said he will also face a charge of using a firearm or facsimile in the commission of an offence.
