Police in Saskatoon had to close off a Riversdale neighbourhood street this afternoon after a house fire filled the area with dense smoke.
The fire happened at about noon on the 600 block of Avenue H S.
Fire crews on one side of the house used a fan to clear away smoke, while crews on the other side broke windows and popped off security bars with chainsaws.
When the front door was opened, a dog escaped from the house. No one was home when the fire broke out.
The cause of the fire is still unknown, but damage is estimated to be about $200,000.
