Saskatoon firefighters battled a blaze at a home at 54 Albany Crescent early Tuesday morning.
The family in the bungalow managed to call firefighters when the fire broke out in the attached garage just after 6 a.m. CST. They escaped safely.
Trucks were on the scene within three minutes and had the fire under control within half an hour. Heavy smoke from the fire was visible for blocks against the early morning sky.
The fire destroyed a Hyundai sedan in the garage and partially-melted an Acura parked on the driveway. Crews were able to contain the fire to the garage, and the bungalow sustained minimal damage from the flames but was filled completely with smoke.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
