The University of Saskatchewan is bringing a hotel to its College Quarter project.

The U of S signed a long-term lease with a local development company to build a 10-storey hotel near Griffith Stadium, where the old seed barn used to stand.

The building will combine a Holiday Inn Express with a Staybridge Suites to offer a mix of short and longer-term accommodations. It will have 203 rooms and suites.

Work is expected to begin next summer.

The university says the hotel should open its doors in 2016.
