Saskatoon's Credit Union Centre is the place to be this weekend for hockey lovers.

Fans from across the country have flocked to the city to see rival universities compete for the national title in men's hockey for the Canadian Interuniversity Sport (CIS) Cup.

Alberta is scheduled to face off against Saskatchewan on the ice Sunday for the final match.

Dale McShane, a devoted Huskies' fan for 25 years, said university hockey is the best hockey there is.

"They're well developed players and they're playing the game because they love it. There's no money involved to speak of, it's just good hockey!" McShane said

On Saturday night, the McGill Martlets played the Alberta Golden Bears. Alberta ended up taking the game in a 3-2 victory with 3:38 left on the clock in double overtime.

Devon Hobbs and his four friends from the University of Alberta made the trip from Calgary to watch their team battle for the top spot.

"People underestimate the quality of hockey in this league," Hobbs told CBC News. "The guys are probably not quite the same size as those in the NHL, but the level of hockey is good. It's exciting to watch."

The University of Saskatchewan Huskies took on the Windsor Lancers, winning 9-0 in the semi final match.

The puck for the final game in the Cup was scheduled to drop Sunday afternoon at 1:30.
