Firefighters rescue woman from scaffold on 3rd Ave South

Firefighters were called to a building on 3rd Avenue South last night to rescue a woman from construction scaffolding.

Woman in medical distress seven metres off street

Firefighters are still puzzling over a rescue last night.

They were called to a building at 267 3rd Avenue South around 9:30 p.m. CST.

They arrived to find a woman about seven metres off the ground. She'd climbed the construction scaffolding fronting the building.

"The patient was conscious but requiring medical attention approximately twenty feet up on the deck off the scaffolding," Battalion Chief Marc DeGirolamo said in a news release.

"Firefighters and MD Ambulance medics stabilized and secured the patient and then firefighters lowered the patient to the ground in the platform bucket of the aerial ladder."

It's not clear what caused her to climb the scaffolding.

Her medical status is not available.
