Saskatoon police were kept busy with five impaired drivers on Saturday night.

With increased traffic on 8th Street during Cruise Weekend, Saskatoon police said they stepped up traffic monitoring in the area.

The first incident happened at about 7 p.m. CST. Police were called to McKercher Drive and 8th Street after a drunk driver collided with another vehicle stopped at a red light.

No one was injured in the crash. A 49-year-old man is facing drinking and driving charges. He is expected to appear in court on Sept. 12.

At about 10 p.m., a police officer spotted a vehicle driving more than 100 kilometres per hour on Lorne Avenue.

Police arrested the 22-year-old driver and charged him with dangerous driving and driving while impaired. He's expected to appear in court on Sept. 25.

Shortly after 11 p.m., police responded to a collision on the 1800 block of 8th Street. Police said a 52-year-old Vanscoy man was responsible for the crash. He was arrested for impaired driving.

At midnight, a Saskatoon police officer stopped a vehicle driving erratically near 8th Street and Lorne Avenue. The 22-year old male driver was arrested and charged with impaired driving.

Just after 3 a.m., police witnessed a car hit the back of a parked vehicle near Avenue P and 21st Street. The driver and passenger suffered minor injuries in crash.

The 33-year-old Alberta man driving the vehicle has been charged with impaired driving.
