Five young men from across the country are facing over 40 firearm and drug related charges after trying to fraudulently rent a Saskatoon hotel room.

Just after noon on Tuesday, police were called to a hotel in the 100 block of Circle Drive West to investigate a group of men, who are from Edmonton, Toronto and Calgary. Police said the men, ranging in age from 18 to 22 years old, were acting suspicious.

The men were taken into custody while officers searched a room. A loaded handgun and 16.87 grams of crack cocaine was discovered the room. Police also recovered $6,300.

The men are scheduled to appear in Saskatoon Provincial Court today.
