Boy wearing mask, carrying replica gun prompts police calls
The 11-year-old was found by police and taken back to his family
An 11-year-old boy walking around with a mask and a replica of a sawed-off shotgun scared people in a Saskatoon neighbourhood Saturday.
Police responded to reports of a person carrying a suspected gun, walking in the area of Bedford Road and Avenue J North at about 5:15 p.m. CST.
He was described as wearing a white mask covering his face, and a red bandana on his head.
Callers also claimed the person appeared to be looking for someone. Reports to police also said that he looked like he was trying to hide, and at one point tried entering a school.
When officers arrived they confiscated the gun. That's when police say they discovered it was a replica of a shotgun, and the suspect was an 11-year-old boy.
Officers took the boy back to his family, who asked that police keep the gun. No charges have been laid.
