Baby boys in Saskatoon and Regina ring in New Year

The first babies of the new year in Regina and Saskatoon are boys.

Boys born 40 minutes apart

Regina's first official baby of 2014 is — a boy.

Hunter Knopp came into the world at 12:35 a.m. CST at Regina General Hospital. He weighed 4.11 kilograms (nine pounds, one ounce) and is doing well.

His parents are Laura Watson and Chris Knopp.

About half an hour later — at 1:13 a.m. CST — a Saskatoon family had the city's first official baby of the year.

Sufyaan Mirza weighed in at 3.2 kilograms (seven pounds, one ounce). He's the third son to Attka and Yasir Mirza. Both mother and son are doing well.
