Assault charge dropped against Saskatoon police officer Robert Brown
Officer was charged following domestic dispute last month
A domestic assault charge against a Saskatoon police officer has been withdrawn.
Constable Robert Brown, 40, was charged following a domestic dispute last month on Rosewood Boulevard. The woman was not injured.
Court officials said the charge has been dropped against Brown, who has been a member of the Saskatoon Police Service for 12 years.
Previous run-ins with the law
This wasn't Brown's first brush with the law. He was charged in 2005 with assaulting a 19 year old in police custody, then acquitted.
He was also involved in an altercation several years later at a Saskatoon bar. That incident led to a civil suit, but no criminal charges against Brown.
Police in Saskatoon said they will now conduct an internal investigation into Brown's behaviour.
