A career fair in Saskatoon brought out hundreds of recruiters from companies including Syncrude, Shell and TransCanada.
All of the companies were meeting with and interviewing indigenous job-seekers.
Inclusion Works is a four-day national job conference. This is the first time the conference has been held in Saskatoon.
Kesha Larocque of the Waterhen First Nation said it's important for companies to recruit more indigenous workers.
"I think there's a real need for indigenous knowledge with the land mixed in with industry and how do we cross the two together and make it work," Larocque said.
Adam Beach, the star of CBC's Arctic Air, gave a keynote speech on Wednesday. Beach told the crowd about the importance of mentoring and encouraging indigenous people to change the corporate world one person at a time.
