A 76-year-old man was taken to hospital with serious injuries after being struck by a car in downtown Saskatoon on Friday night.

Police said the man was crossing 3rd Avenue at 22nd Street when he was struck by a car making a right turn.

The man was in the crosswalk and had a walk light when he was hit, police said. 

The 38-year-old driver of the car has been charged for failing to yield to a pedestrian at an intersection.

The intersection has been re-opened to traffic.
