A Yorkton RCMP officer has been fined $1,200 after pleading guilty to a drinking-and-driving offence.
Terry Hyggen, a corporal with the Yorkton municipal RCMP, also received a one-year driving prohibition after pleading guilty June 24 to having a blood-alcohol level higher than .08 per cent while operating a motor vehicle.
The RCMP said the charge stemmed from an incident early in the morning on June 8 in which the Melfort detachment received a complaint of an impaired driver.
Officers stopped a vehicle about two kilometres east of Weldon, Sask. The driver showed obvious signs of intoxication and was arrested, the RCMP said.
In addition to the criminal matters, Hyggen also faces an internal code of conduct investigation.
He's been on administrative leave since June 24.
