The Workers' Compensation Board recorded 60 deaths last year, making 2012 one of the deadliest years in decades for workers in Saskatchewan.

Fourteen of the deaths were in construction.

"These hazards are real and 60 families in 2012 have proof that this can happen to anybody in this province," WCB chief executive officer Peter Federko said.

Of the 60 deaths, five of them were young people — up from two the year before. Fifteen died of heart attacks, up 10 from the previous year.
