Worker who stole cash from Regina police gets probation
Police change how they handle money
A former employee of the Regina police service has been sentenced to 15 months probation after pleading guilty to stealing money from the department's financial services section.
The section handled requests for criminal record checks, for which the department charges a fee.
Chrysta Marie Garner, 36, was charged with theft relating to some $6,400 in payments for the checks.
She pleaded guilty last fall and paid back the money.
The police department says it made a number of changes in how it handles money.
