Woman killed walking on highway at Waseca, Sask.
RCMP identify Marlene Florence Cardinal, 51, as victim
A woman from Maidstone, Sask., is dead after walking onto Highway 16 and being hit by three vehicles.
RCMP have identified her as Marlene Florence Cardinal, 51.
Police said Cardinal left her vehicle near Waseca Thursday night and was walking in the middle of the highway when she was struck by a pickup truck hauling a trailer, a semi-truck and a third passenger vehicle.
Waseca is about 50 kilometres southeast of Lloydminster.
Traffic was rerouted around the site of the crash overnight, but the highway was reopened Friday morning.
There has been no word on why the woman was walking on the highway.
Police said they continue to investigate but do not believe there was any foul play involved.
Cardinal's family has been notified, police said.
